Mansion and Historic Gardens

Near Ullswater in the Lake District.

For details of opening times and dates please see the main Dalemain site.

Garden Entry: The garden is open Sunday to Friday from 10:30am-3:00pm.

Mansion Entry: The Mansion is closed over Winter but will reopen on 24 March 2024.

All visits to the mansion are by guided tour only. Tickets can be bought on arrival.

You can visit the Mansion and/or the Garden without booking in advance, but booking in advance for Mansion entry is advisable as spaces are limited and entry is by guided tour only (five tours a day).


Visiting the Museums

The Fell Pony and Countryside Museums are not open to the public at the moment (March 2024), but they are expected to be open later on in the year for special events such as the Harvest Festival in June.

Sorry - there is no disabled accessCaution

The Museums are on an upper floor of the Great Barn to which entry is by a flight of stone steps. We are sorry but there is no disabled access.

We also recommend adult supervision of children among the museum's large collection of agricultural tools and implements.
