GENERAL PRIDE (641)

is a beautiful black, foaled 1906

Bred by Mr John Swinburn, Gowbarrow Hall, Penrith

Sire: Lothian Prince
Dam: by Old Mountain Hero
Gr. dam: by Sir George

GENERAL PRIDE is a horse of class and character. His class of bone, hair, his legs, feet and pasterns, and his general appearance at once denote a breeding horse; in fact, he is admitted by competent judges to be a perfect model of the breed; and as regards his action, a single glance at the same will convince anyone that he is, without a doubt, the finest stepping pony in existence.

His sire, Lothian Prince, has travelled the Penrith District for 16 years, and has left a grand stock. [Lothian Prince was by the Clydesdale Royal Lothian reg 6991 CHSB and so was ineligible himself for any Fell POny Society premiums.]

His dam, the property of Mr Stephenson, Bowscar, Penrith, was the winner of a great number of first prizes.

His dam was by Old Mountain Hero, the property of Mr Cannon, of Borrowdale. He left the best stock, and the most of them, of any pony in Cumberland. He travelled until he was 30 years old. His gr. dam [was] by Sir George , the property of C. Wilson, Esq., of Rigmaden, [who] won eight first prizes at the Royal, and had an unbeaten record.

With breeding like this, and himself a perfect model of grand pony type, he cannot be beaten.
